"I am a 40+ year old Army veteran who had never completed a lap on the ice (without pulling myself along the sideboards) before this last year. That being said, The Black Magic Hockey Club has been one of the best additions to my life. If you have even the slightest inkling that you might want to try this…take the advice of this random internet stranger and DO IT. I couldn’t skate; I didn’t know if I was right or left-handed when it came to holding a hockey stick…I was the epidemy of “starting from scratch.”

This is more than a group that introduces and develops hockey skills, this has become my family and consistently one of best parts of my week. You will learn, you will improve, and you will have a great time doing it.
The thrill of playing the sport aside, my physical and mental health have drastically improved as well. Within my first year, I have lost over 60 lbs. (I have plenty to spare) and haven’t once considered this as something I HAVE to do to get into better shape, I have been getting in better shape while I GET to play hockey.
Spend a short amount of time around the people here and you can see that this club is full of amazing players who are passionate about the sport, and its fellow members. We were all beginners at some point (most of us started a year ago) with new players joining all the time and everyone here keeps that in perspective while encouraging our beginners. Good vibes, great people, and cold temperatures…what are you waiting for??"
